Design Adaptation FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Considering Design Adaptation? Here’s what clients usually want to know. If your question isn’t here, just ask.

Can Double Eleven adapt campaigns created by other agencies?

Yes. Double Eleven can adapt existing key visuals and campaign assets for new formats, channels and languages.

Why can’t a key visual simply be resized for every format?

Different formats have different proportions, viewing distances and text limits. A billboard, a mobile story and a print ad each need the layout rearranged so the message stays clear and the design still looks balanced.

What is bleed in print artwork?

Bleed is extra image area that extends beyond the trim edge of a printed piece, usually around 3mm, so no unprinted white edge appears after cutting.

What is the difference between RGB and CMYK?

RGB is the color mode used for screens, while CMYK is used for most printing. Artwork must be prepared in the right mode, because some bright screen colors cannot be reproduced exactly in print.

What is a media specification?

A media specification lists the exact size, resolution, file format and technical requirements set by a printer, media owner or platform for an advertisement.

Why do Chinese and English layouts need separate adjustments?

Chinese and English text differ in length, character shapes and line breaks, so layouts and typography need adjusting for each language to look balanced.

What file formats are used for digital ads?

Digital ads commonly use JPG, PNG, GIF, HTML5 and MP4 formats, depending on the platform and whether the ad is static, animated or video.

What is a master layout?

A master layout is the approved design of a campaign, prepared so it can be adapted efficiently into every other size and format.
